My 9/11 story and Joey wears a “Capt. Billy Burke” t-shirt.

The first video tells my story, 9/11, and that of my brother, and the Sphere.

In the second, in the first season after 9/11, FDNY firefighters were invited by the producers to view a taping of the iconic TV show, “FRIENDS.” A firefighter from Engine 21 gave Matt LeBlanc a “Capt. Billy Burke, 21 Engine” t-shirt and he graciously wore it for the show’s opening. It has since been recognized as an historically significant moment when popular culture subtly and respectfully acknowledged 9/11.

The Graveyard of 9/11 FDNY Apparatus

In this last, moving video, filmed in the summer after the attacks, a battalion chief visits the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island, site of the “graveyard” of the FDNY vehicles destroyed, 9/11. He speaks of the friends and FDNY brothers he lost, and of the horrors of Ground Zero. He also highlights two fire trucks. The first is Ladder 3. All eleven men who responded were lost.

The second is my brother’s, 21 Engine.

Both apparatus are now exhibits in the National September 11 Museum. Pay close attention to what he discovers and says at the end.
